Boasting a ridiculously talented cast that includes Pernilla August, (Young Royals) Alba August (Bullshit), Rolf Lassgård (The Hunters), Liv Mjönes (Hostage) Asta Kamma August (The Hypnosis), and Alma Pöysti (Fallen Leaves) – those are some big names!

When he fails to meet them, their trek through the forest ends in horror as they stumble upon a gruesome crime scene. Suspicions ripple through the tight-knit community, implicating Annie and others, while the local police encounter an unyielding wall of silence.
Eighteen years later, Mia returns to Blackwater with her boyfriend Johan, stirring up buried traumas when her mother, now a local teacher, suddenly vanishes. Bullshit | Denmark | Viaplay USA
Bullshit is a gripping new drama inspired by true events, premiering exclusively on Viaplay.
Set in late 1970s and early 1980s Copenhagen, the series dives into the dangerous world of the hardcore biker gang Bullshit. Based on Bullshit: The Story of a Family by Camilla Stockmann and Janus Køster-Rasmussen, it won multiple awards at the 2024 Geneva International Film Festival, including Best Miniseries and Best Acting Performance.
The story follows Pia (Alba August, Becoming Astrid), a 16-year-old escaping her troubled home, and Henning, aka Mackerel (Marco Ilsø, Vikings), an 18-year-old chasing freedom and brotherhood in the gang. As their passionate romance unfolds, rising tensions with the Hells Angels push them into a brutal and life-altering conflict.
The series is directed by the talented Milad Alami (who directed this year’s Opponent) and is a wild ride – don’t sleep on this one!

Veronika | Sweden | Viaplay UK
Having screened over on Viaplay USA in August last year the series now arrives to the UK streamer.
Combining spectral elements with your typical Scandi police procedural, Veronika gives us an unreliable protagonist and a small town burdened by secrets of the past.
Alexandra Rapaport excels as the titular detective in this eight-part series, truly looking like a woman on the brink. We piece together three murders alongside her, questioning everything we see and hear. It seems like her career, her marriage and home life, and the peace of this small forest town are all reliant on her ability to solve these crimes. Tobias Santelmann, Karin Bertling, and Arvin Kananian make up an impressive cast.
Offering up commentary on mental health, grooming, social class and “the hysterical woman” trope, Veronika is an unusual, engaging series that will leave you gripped right up until the very last seconds.

APRIL
The Glass Dome | Sweden | Netflix (Worldwide)
The Glass Dome this six-part Swedish crime drama from bestselling author Camilla Läckberg is your next Nordic noir obsession. The Glass Dome (Glaskupan) takes us to the seemingly idyllic town of Granås, where Lejla (Léonie Vincent) returns home after her adoptive mother’s death—only to be pulled into a chilling mystery that echoes her own childhood trauma. A missing girl, buried secrets, and a haunting past converge in a tightly wound thriller that’s anything but predictable.
Directors Henrik Björn and Lisa Farzaneh set the mood with washed-out visuals and unsettling imagery, while Vincent delivers a powerhouse performance as a woman fraying at the edges. With brilliant turns from Johan Hedenberg and Johan Rheborg, a tangle of side plots involving racism, protests, and small-town tensions add further layers to the mystery.
It all builds to a jaw-dropping finale that’s equal parts disturbing and brilliant. The Glass Dome isn’t just another whodunnit—it’s a masterfully crafted, emotionally loaded ride that’ll have you questioning everything until the final seconds.

Families Like Ours | Denmark | BBC iPlayer (UK)
Thomas Vinterberg makes a powerful leap into television with Families Like Ours, a hauntingly grounded drama set in a near-future Denmark facing forced evacuation due to rising sea levels. The seven-part series – now available as a full boxset on BBC iPlayer – weaves together multiple storylines as citizens come to terms with the loss of their homeland and the dismantling of life as they know it. What unfolds is an emotional and often confronting look at identity, belonging, and survival under pressure.
The cast is a dream team of Danish talent, including familiar Vinterberg collaborators like Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Paprika Steen, and Magnus Millang, alongside an incredible breakout performance from Amaryllis August. Vinterberg lets the tension simmer slowly, peppering the narrative with jarring moments of violence and raw emotion. Families Like Ours is both sweeping and intimate – a reflection on how ordinary people react when the ground beneath them is quite literally disappearing.

Secrets We Keep | Denamrk | Netflix (Worldwide)
If The Glass Dome kept you glued to your screen last month, get ready to clear your calendar again. Secrets We Keep, a gripping six-part Danish drama, lands on Netflix on May 15 and is every bit as binge-worthy.
When Ruby, a young Filipino au pair, vanishes from an affluent North Zealand suburb, her quiet plea for help to neighbour Cecilie (Marie Bach Hansen) sets off a chain of revelations that shatters the veneer of suburban perfection. Cecilie, determined to uncover the truth, begins to dig into the lives of Ruby’s employers, Rasmus and Katarina (Lars Ranthe and Danica Curcic), whose casual racism and privilege seem impossible to ignore. But as the case unfolds, cracks begin to appear much closer to home.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Per Fly and co-written by creator Ingeborg Topsøe, the series pulls no punches when it comes to Denmark’s class and racial divides. As Cecilie is drawn deeper into the investigation alongside new detective Aisha (Sara Fanta Traore), she must face uncomfortable truths about her own life, marriage, and complicity.
Smart, tense, and painfully timely, Secrets We Keep is a searing look at who gets to feel safe, who gets heard, and who gets left behind. The final episode doesn’t just raise questions — it leaves them hanging in the air like smoke.

Chaos | Denmark | Viaplay (UK and USA)
What happens when your entire life plan unravels on live TV? That’s the starting point for Chaos, a new romantic dramedy from Denmark, available now on Viaplay UK and USA. Katrine Greis-Rosenthal stars as Lise, a polished breakfast show host whose life is thrown off course when her job – and her marriage to her co-host – begins to fall apart. As Lise questions everything, a chance encounter with Johannes (Jacob Lohmann) offers a taste of something completely different, and just maybe, something more real.
Directed by Lars Kaalund and written by Emma Broström, the eight-part series blends humour, romance, and a surprising emotional weight. Greis-Rosenthal is magnetic as Lise, balancing public poise with private turmoil, while Lohmann shines as a gentle and emotionally available romantic lead – a refreshing turn from his usual roles.
Chaos captures the energy of morning television with wit and affection, while diving into the messy business of starting over. It’s funny, heartfelt, and yes – utterly addictive. The only downside? It ends on a major cliffhanger, so here’s hoping season two isn’t far behind.

Johanna Möller – Sweden’s Most Hated Woman | Sweden | TV Series | Viaplay USA & UK
Sweden’s infamous ‘summer cottage murder’ case is reopened as Johanna Möller, convicted of planning her father’s murder and attempting to kill her mother, speaks out for the first time. This shocking conviction was secured without forensic evidence, relying solely on the testimony of her boyfriend, Mohammad, whose story notoriously shifted twelve times. Through expert analysis, this docuseries delves into the truth behind one of Sweden’s most notorious killers, examining the profound influence of media attention and the justice system’s role in determining guilt. The series asks a critical question: could one of Sweden’s most written-about criminals be imprisoned on inaccurate grounds?

The Congregation – Bride of Christ | Sweden | TV Series | Viaplay USA and UK
This dark and enthralling series, inspired by real-life events, is based on Jonas Bonnier’s acclaimed novel, which also inspired the HBO docuseries Pray, Obey, Kill.
The first season, which was superb, introduces a young woman (played by Alba August), who seeks belonging and is drawn into the secluded and controversial Christian cult of Knutby, nestled in a rural Swedish town. Here, devotion subtly masks manipulation until a brutal crime exposes the darkness hidden within.
The second season delves deeper into the story of Eva (Aliette Opheim – Caliphate, Thicker Than Water), the so-called “Bride of Christ.” Following the grisly events of the first season, attention shifts to the increasingly isolated Knutby Pentecostal congregation. As Örjan, a new pastor, becomes Eva’s confidant, a darker truth emerges: one of control, manipulation, and spiritual abuse lurking behind the community’s devout facade.
