The Street Where I Live, inspired by Lena Philipsson’s hit song of the same name, premieres exclusively on Viaplay this April.

Lena Philipsson, one of Sweden’s most successful musical artists and the new lead singer of Roxette, stars in this heartwarming drama that blends love, community, and unexpected intrigue.

The story follows Nina (Lena Philipsson) as a single mother who has found solace and purpose in her tight-knit neighbourhood after the tragic loss of her husband, Erik. With the support of her neighbours, Nina has navigated the challenges of single parenthood and slowly begun to heal. But when she meets Richard (Ilkka Villi), a new romance sparks—one that threatens to change not just her life, but the dynamics of the entire street.

Created and written by Mikael Newihl (Max Anger – With One Eye Open), this Viaplay Original brings you a heartfelt tale of community, love, and the complexities of moving on after loss.

The Glass Dome | TV Series | Netflix (Globally) | 14th April

From directors Lisa Farzaneh (Young Royals) and Henrik Björn (Jordskott) comes a chilling Nordic mystery that blurs the line between past and present.

Lejla (Léonie Vincent) returns to her childhood home in a small Swedish village, a place struggling between tradition and modernization. But for Lejla, the real battle lies within. Years ago, she was held captive in a mysterious glass dome, her abductor never found. Now, another young girl has vanished, and the eerie similarities to Lejla’s past are impossible to ignore. As she searches for answers, she must face the darkness she’s tried to bury—and the terrifying possibility that history is repeating itself.

With a cast that includes Farzaneh Arastoo, Ia Langhammer, Johan Hedenberg, Johan Rheborg, and Oscar Töringe, this one has definitely caught our attention.

Bordertown Season 2 | TV Series | Walter Presents/Channel 4 | 18th April

After captivating audiences on Netflix, Bordertown is now arriving on Channel 4, bringing its dark and gripping story to UK viewers.

Inspector Kari Sorjonen (Ville Virtanen) is back in the gritty world of Lappeenranta, where complex homicides and personal demons collide. This season, Sorjonen’s world is shaken when Lena Jaakkola’s estranged father, a convict in Russia, contacts her after 18 years, pulling Lena into a past she thought was buried.

The Ugly Stepsister | Film | Selected Cinemas | USA (18th April) & UK (25th April)

Written and directed by Emilie Blichfeldt (in her feature-length directorial debut), The Ugly Stepsister reimagines the classic fairy tale in a dark, twisted light.

In this gruesome adaptation of Charles Perrault’s Cinderella, the story takes a chilling turn, revealing just how much pain beauty truly costs. Lea Myren stars as Elvira, a woman obsessed with winning the love of her kingdom’s handsome prince and securing her “happily ever after.” But living in the shadow of her beautiful stepsister, Agnes (Thea Sofie Loch Næss, The Last Kingdom), who seems destined for the fairytale ending, Elvira will stop at nothing to get what she wants—even if it means embracing the darkness within.

Also starring Ane Dahl Torp (The Wave), The Ugly Stepsister is a grim homage to a beloved tale, delivering all the thrills and sinister twists you didn’t know you were missing.

Wisting | TV Series | Viaplay UK | 28th April

Lauded as “The best Nordic noir ever” by The Observer, Wisting returns with its acclaimed fourth season, now streaming on Viaplay.

Based on Jørn Lier Horst’s bestselling books, this season follows Detective Chief Inspector William Wisting (Gold Run) as he investigates the disappearance of a young boy from a hotel, where an employee is found murdered. Under immense pressure, Wisting and his team must solve the high-profile case while desperately searching for the missing six-year-old.

With four gripping 45-minute episodes, Wisting delivers all the suspense, tension, and twists that fans of Nordic noir have come to expect.

The Heirs Of The Arctic | Aslak Nore | Maclehose Press| 24 April    

A sequel to 2024’s The Sea Cemetery, Aslak Nore’s The Heirs Of The Arctic picks up the story 6 months on from the first book but family tensions still run high in the Flack family, one of Norway’s wealthiest dynasties.
