Having worked behind the scenes for a number of artists including the likes of Paloma Faith, Iggy Azela, and Icona Pop Swedish artist Cy has decided to go on her own musical journey. Today sees the release of her brand new single ‘My Name Next To Yours’ which beautifully blends the lines of indie and pop.
Talking about the single Cy says: “It symbolizes this pull between looking back at your relationship with loving eyes and simultaneously feeling like shit about it, which literally feels like being knocked straight in the face”
Where are you from and what are your favorite places to experience there?
I’m from Stockholm. My favorite place to be is probably in the nature, and the fact that it’s so close to town. I’ve gotten into climbing lately, and the fact that I can find good outdoor climbing in the woods 20 mins away is the best!
How would you best describe your sound?
I would say it’s punky indie pop with soulful vocals.
What have you got planned for the year?
I’m releasing a few more songs, and I’m hoping to finish an EP before the end of the year. The dream is to do an album.
When can we expect to see you start to play some online or live music?
I love playing live, and doing it online is a new thing for me. It took me like 4 weeks to have the guts to post a frikking video of me singing on my Instagram, so I wanna challenge myself with that. I’m very excited for that chapter though, so after I’ve released a few more songs I’ll do a mean live set-up I think!
What can we do to help support your music and where do we need to go to do that?
Listen, share and buy my music is the best way! Follow me on Instagram, YouTube and Spotify, share music with friends and add it to your playlists. Now that we can’t play live, it’s mostly about algorithms and stats and stuff so it’s does more of a difference than you’d think!
Finally, what was the last thing you read, watched, and listened to
I’m currently reading ‘Me and White Supremacy’ by Layla Saad, I’m watching Narcos and I last listened to ‘Jump Around’ by House of Pain cause my friend Kristina was trying to do a breakdance routine.
