With his new single released on Friday Norwegian singer songwriter Kristian Grostrad took the time to talk to us and let get to know him a little better including his plans for the year, and what he has been checking out recently. Kristian is another fantastic artist to check out on the brilliant Nordic Records label.
Where are you from and what are your favourite places to experience there?
I’m from a little town called Steinkjer right in the middle of Norway. It’s been a while now since I’ve been there, but my favorite things to experience growing up were going to the woods or the sea. It’s located by a beautiful fjord, so you get the best of both worlds I think…
How would you best describe your sound?
I would describe my sound and music as acoustic singer songwriter indie pop-rock. Inspired by bands such as The National, Death Cab for Cutie, The Shins.
What have you got planned for the year?
It’s hard to plan anything these days, but first of all I will finally release my debut album. That’s quite a big thing for me this year. I also plan to go on a tour, and hopefully it will work out one way or another.
When can we expect to see you start to play live music?
Hopefully I will go touring with my new album this year. Maybe sometime in the fall. Playing live is definitely
one of favorite things about making music, so I can’t wait to be doing it again soon.
What can we do to help support your music and where do we need to go to do that?
Best way to support anyones music right now is to listen to it, I guess. On whatever streaming platform you prefer. And follow me on my social media channels, so you can get my latest news and updates. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc.
Finally, what was the last thing you read, watched, and listened to?
Last thing I read was a great book by Paul Auster called 1234. Last thing I watched was the South Korean movie Parasite. I also just finished a watching the whole series of Breaking Bad / Better Call Saul for the first time. One of the few good things about the current world situation is the amount of time to catch up on things… Last thing I listened to was the new Ben Howard single ‘What a Day’… On repeat!
