Netflix

The Chestnut Man (Denmark)

A chilling Danish crime thriller based on the novel by Søren Sveistrup (creator of The Killing). The story begins when detectives Naia Thulin (Danica Curcic) and Mark Hess (Mikkel Boe Følsgaard) discover a murdered woman with one hand missing and a handmade chestnut figurine left at the scene. The case soon links to a high‑profile missing child, pulling the investigators into a dark web of political secrets, trauma and a relentless serial killer.

The second season was released on the 7th May which means you have not one but two series to get stuck into!

The New Force (Sweden)

The New Force is a gripping Swedish period drama following the country’s first generation of female police officers in the early 20th century. The series centres on Carin (Josefin Asplund), a determined young woman who joins the newly formed women’s police force in Stockholm. As she and her colleagues fight for legitimacy in a male‑dominated institution, they confront violent crimes, social prejudice and the rapidly changing role of women in society. The show blends historical detail with noir‑tinged investigations and strong character drama.

The Helicopter Heist (Sweden)

A slick, high‑stakes Swedish crime drama based on the real 2009 Västberga helicopter robbery: one of the most audacious heists in modern European history. The series follows the crew behind the meticulously planned operation, blending character‑driven storytelling with procedural tension as police scramble to understand how a group of young criminals outsmarted the system. The Helicopter Heist is part thriller, part social drama, exploring ambition, loyalty, and the thin line between desperation and daring.

Bordertown (Finland)

A dark Finnish crime drama following Detective Kari Sorjonen (Ville Virtanen), a brilliant but socially unusual investigator who relocates with his family to the border town of Lappeenranta for a quieter life – only to face a series of brutal, psychologically complex crimes. The show blends Nordic noir atmosphere with Sorjonen’s unique “memory palace” investigative style.

Deadwind (Finland)

This Finnish noir follows Sofia Karppi (Pihla Viitala), a recently widowed homicide detective who returns to work and is immediately pulled into the murder of a social affairs consultant. The case spirals into corporate corruption and political intrigue, all while Karppi struggles with grief and raising her children.

Quicksand (Sweden)

A tense Swedish crime drama about Maja Norberg (Hanna Ardéhn), a seemingly ordinary teen who becomes the prime suspect after a school shooting in an affluent Stockholm suburb. The series unfolds through courtroom drama, flashbacks, and psychological tension.

Young Wallander (Sweden)

Their partnership blends early forensic thinking with spiritual fervour, all against the harsh, haunting backdrop of the Nordic wilderness.

Snow Angels (Sweden)

A haunting Swedish crime drama set during a brutal Stockholm winter. On Christmas Eve, a newborn baby disappears from a housing estate, and the investigation exposes a web of addiction, neglect and fractured family relationships. The story unfolds from multiple perspectives – the overwhelmed mother, the troubled father, and the determined police officer Alice  – creating a layered, emotionally charged mystery.
